A Queens pedestrian is fighting for his life after being struck by a hit-and-run driver early Sunday morning. According to police sources, the incident unfolded at around 1:51 a.m. near 184 St. and Jamaica Avenue. A 54-year-old man was crossing from the northwest to the southwest corner on Jamaica Avenue when the driver of a gray Ford Crown Victoria traveling eastbound struck the pedestrian. He was sent hurtling into the roadway and suffered what cops describe as severe trauma to his head and body. EMS rushed him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he remains fighting for his life in critical condition. Meanwhile, the driver did not remain on scene and instead fled eastbound on Jamaica Avenue. No arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District Investigation Squad.
